Primary Purpose:
An academic advisor is responsible for analyzing campus and student data in order to contribute to the growth and success of the campus. In doing so, they must ensure all students are effectively scheduled, recommend course offerings, and determine appropriate education solutions for the students of Texans Can Academies. Academic advisors must accurately evaluate transcripts. They must understand state testing, state graduation requirements, and state accountability and able to help the entire campus build understanding and capacity in these areas.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Equivalent Experience is required (Example: Associate’s Degree/Two years of College and Two years of related work experience)
- Knowledge of TX High School Graduation Requirements and High School Scheduling, preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of systems and operations
- Exhibits effective human relations and communication skills
- Possesses skill in planning, problem-solving and organizing needed work assignment
- Ability to coordinate school support operations
- Skills in Microsoft Office Suite, SQL Data and Windows Applications
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Evaluate student transcripts and testing history to effectively schedule students towards graduation.
- Execute and manage the process of awarding credits.
- Responsible for the accuracy of student report cards and transcripts
- Collaborate with administrators in the development and revision of school master schedules and curriculum offerings.
- Maintains and updates state testing data , which drives campus instructional and operational decisions
- Coordinate the effectiveness and timeliness of the enrollment, scheduling, and academic records entry process.
- Assisting with the school’s testing processes, specifically ensuring that state testing rosters are accurate.
- Meet with students to discuss and educate them on state graduation requirements and their personal graduation plan.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Assist administration with verification with student’s graduation and activities related to graduation.
- Any other duties assigned and required.
