Primary Purpose:
The Literacy Coach is responsible for assisting with student literacy development on each of two campuses.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree required
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Cultural diversity awareness and the ability to work with diverse population.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred/not required.
Experience:
Experience preferred in using technology.
Good organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide extended hours literacy activities and training activities.
- Collaborate with the teacher, tutors and instructional coaches to ensure high-quality pedagogical instructional literacy strategies are integrated into all core content areas.
- Organizes the classrooms and campuses atmosphere that is conducive to student learning and achievement.
- Develop campus book distribution system.
- Monitor use of digital libraries and literacy resources used for Marquez Reading.
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Able to help campuses develop a literacy library center for students to access digital and print resources.
- Partner with local librarians and libraries to increase literacy for students.
- Any other duties required.

Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Regular district wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying. |
